My Choice Photo

This photo is my favorite of my pictures that I have taken this year. It is of the flag pole at the bottom of the hill at Mercy. It was taken in the early morning. The sun was just coming up and the lighting made the photo come out a lot better. I took this photo on an upward angle so I could get a shot of the trees and the sky in the background One element in this photo is lines. This is because of the obvious line that is caused by the pole. One principle in the photo is emphasis, this is because of the pole is emphasized in this picture.

Photo in the style of Photographer

The person that I studied was Dorothea Lange. She took photos that exposed the depression for what it was and the harsh realities that were happing in society. I duplicated one of her photos where she took a photo of some fliers, that showed injustice in society. I took this photo inside of my home on a wall that I thought matched up well with the photo that Lange took. The element of art that I used in this photo is lines, this is because of the lines caused by the paper. The principle that I used is Balance because in the photo there is a great balance between the papers.

Photoshop altered image

My favorite photo that was edited by Photoshop was one of the first photo’s that I took in this class. It is some food in my kitchen with the background that I photo Photoshop out. I took this photo in the afternoon so that the light shined in through a window right onto the picture making it look good. I wanted to take this photo exactly how it came out. One of the elements that is in this photo is color, color because of the way that the food brings out color in the photo. One principle in this photo is unity because it seems like everything in this photo is meant to be there.

Best Actor Head Shot

This was just a formal, yearbook like photo. This is of my model who helped me to take photo’s of different types of emotions. This photo was taking in the Mercy art room, photo studio. I took it in this spot because it gave me the best chance of taking a good photo. To get this photo I told my model that we needed a photo that would be similar to one that would be in a yearbook, he then took this photo. One element of art is shape and form, because of the way that the background is neutral, thus giving a lot of shape and form in the photo. The principle that I used was emphasis, this is because I wanted to emphasize my model and I did this by having a neutral background.

Self Portrait

This was a photo that I had to take of myself. It was difficult to achieve to I feel that I took a good photo. The picture in the photo is obviously of me, that I took. I took the photo holding my camera down, thus getting the upward shot of the photo. This photo was taking in the afternoon and there was a lot of clouds, so there wasn’t much sunlight in the photo. I took the photo right in front of my house but you cant tell by the photo. I wanted it to seem like I wasn’t even paying attention to the photo. One of the elements in the photo is texture because you can see the texture of my sweatshirt and hair because of how close the photo was taken. One principle that I used was movement because when I was taking this photo I was also walking

Envioronmental Portrait (Halloween)

This photo was easy to take. It is of my sister on Halloween day. My sister is in her costume, right before leaving the house. This was in the late afternoon so the lighting wasn’t an issue, this was because it was taking inside my house. I tried to take it with my door as the background because of its neutral color. To take this picture I just told my sister that I needed a photo where she is in her Halloween costume. The element that I
saw in this picture is lines. This is because of the door in the back has lines that lead your eyes right into the photo. The principle that I used is proportion, this is because of the proportion of height between my sister and the door.

Candid Portrait (Mercy Girl)

This was an original candid photo that I thought would be a little different of a photo. The way that I took it was when there was a group of students posing for another photo I took this photo from the side and made it a candid photo. This photo was a random group of Mercy students who were posing for another photo. This photo was taken inside of a building so the lighting was not a factor in taking the photo. This photo was taking before class had stared so that the halls were empty. I took this photo because I thought it would be a cool angle to take a photo. One element of art is space, because in this photo the space is limited in the hall and in the photo. One principle in the photo is movement and rhythm, because in the back of the photo there is a classroom, and there are students inside moving around.

Scanner Art

This photo was one of my favorite photos to create. This is a photo that was created by layers of different kinds of photo’s. I printed a background off of the internet, and I scanned a couple of leafs that if found. Also I had a couple of different photos that I printed and scanned on this photo. To make this photo the only thing that was vital to the photo was the scanning of the different photos on top of each other. One element of art that I saw in this picture is color, because of how many different colors that there is in the photo. One principle that was noted in this picture is variety, because in this photo you really get a little of every principle of design.

Shutter Photo

The shutter photo that I took was of a path. When I saw how this path looked I knew that it was going to be a good photo. This photo is of a pathway that was at the bottom of a hill at Mercy high school. This photo was taking in the morning during one of our classes. However the area that this photo was taken at has many trees around and blocked out most of the light. I took this photo because the scenery is very nice looking I thought that a photo of it would come out very nice, and it did. To take it I went to the begging of the path and took the photo looking in at the path. The element that I see in the photo is lines, the lines that lead your eyes to the center of the photo. The principal that I see in this photo is balance, because the way that the path moves evenly on both sides causes balance.

Ansel Adams Nature Photography

This photo is me trying to copy a photo that is similar to on that Ansel Adams would have taken. This photo that I took is of a tree down at the bottom of Mercy high school. This photo was taken in the yearly morning around 7:45, on a cold day. This photo was taken in a forested area that is at the bottom of a hill at Mercy. I took this photo because I believe that it looks like a photo that Ansel Adams would have taken. When I took this photo I was kneeing down in order to emphasis the size of the tree, another way that I emphasized the size of the tree was taking the photo tilted rather than straight across. The element that I can see in this photo is obviously lines because that is the shape of the tree, that is the main focus of the photo. The principle that is in the photo is proportion, because there are smaller trees in the back of the photo that makes this tree look even bigger.

Principle of Design

The principle that I chose to use was emphasis. In the photo I emphasized to emphasize the bag of chips while in the background you can see a kitchen. I took this photo in the late afternoon at my house because, the natural light came in and brightened my kitchen. This made the lighting look very good. I took this photo because when I was looking for a photo to take I saw the chips sitting there, and I thought that it would look cool if I put an emphasis on the bag of chips and had the kitchen as a background. The element of art in this photo is texture. This is because you can see the texture of the bag, this adds to the photo.

Element of Design

The element that I chose to do was space. This photo that I took was the side of the building at Mercy high school. This picture was taken in the early morning between around 7:30 so the shadow came out really nice. I took this photo because I had to take a picture of every element of art, and I saw the space that was in this picture, and how the shadow lined up perfectly with it, this allowed me to take a really good photo. A principle that I use in this photo is pattern, this is because of the pattern on the wall that is in the photograph.

Sunprint Image

This was the first photo that all of our class did the whole year. I was having trouble making this image look good. In order to make it I took some objects that I had in my backpack and put them on the paper. The sun was in a good spot, but it wasn’t prefect, since we did it early in the morning. We made these photos right in front of the school, near the pond. I made this photo because the items that I had in my backpacks all had definite shapes, making them come out really nice on the paper. After getting leaving the items on the paper, and putting it in water the photo came out to exactly how I wanted it. The principle that was in the photo was the principle of balance. In the photo there is good balance.
